Ballooning Course at the Boreal Balloon School

Since 1987 we have been running the Balloon School currently located in Segovia. Most of the pilots who are currently operating in the central area of the country have been our students.

The pilot course consists of a minimum of 16 hours of flight (in 8 or more flights of 2 hours each) followed by a practical and a theoretical exam. The practical examination consists of a flight with the examiner; the theoretical consists of a test of basic knowledge on balloon flight, elementary aeronautical meteorology, navigation, use of instruments in flight as well as safety and emergency procedures.

Our School

  • Location: Boreal Academy is located in Segovia
  • Duration: 16 hours = 1 month. (It might be extended, according to availability)
  • Clothing: Comfortable and appropriate for the time of year in which you fly. We recommend a cap and sports shoes.
  • NOTE: We advise and manage all the procedures with the State Aviation Safety Agency.
  • Javier Tarno is the Chief Flight and Instructor of the Ballooning School.

Requirements

  • Student-Pilot Card
  • Request to the State Aviation Safety Agency.
  • Request from the Chief Flight of the School
  • Aeronautical Medical Certificate.
  • Certified photocopy of the DNI / NIE
  • 2 passport size photos
  • Pilot Certificate exam
  • Flight hours certificate
  • Theoretical and practical exam
