General Terms and Conditions for Balloon Rides

By: globosboreal | 10 Jun 2020

1. A balloon ride is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. The passenger who booked the flight or who received an invitation to fly in a balloon must contact Boreal well in advance to set the flight date. If they do not do so within the 12-month period, Boreal may consider the flight as completed.

2. Globos Boreal will not refund the amount under any circumstances, but during this period it may be transferred to another person.

3. Changes to the flight date are not permitted with less than one week’s notice unless there is a justified force majeure. Globos Boreal may consider the flight as completed if this deadline is not met.

4. The meeting time at the takeoff site is always at dawn, as this is the ideal time of day to fly before thermal currents appear. Punctuality is very important, as the balloon cannot wait once inflated, and the takeoff time cannot be postponed. Globos Boreal will offer a 5-minute courtesy flight if a passenger does not arrive on time. If they do not show up, the flight will be considered complete.

5. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing appropriate for the season, athletic shoes (never heels), and a cap.

6. The flight will last approximately 45 minutes from takeoff, after which the pilot will look for a landing spot. After landing, there will be a celebration with cava, aperitifs, and a diploma presentation. We will then transport passengers in our vehicles to the initial takeoff point.

7. The entire activity will last approximately 3 to 4 hours (including balloon inflation, takeoff, landing, a celebration with cava, a diploma presentation, aperitifs, and return to the takeoff field). Photo and HD video recording are included.

8. Boreal must obtain the full name and weight of each passenger before the flight, in accordance with aviation regulations.
In addition, overweight passengers must notify the pilot in advance.

9. Pregnant women and people with bone problems should not fly. Passengers must ensure they are physically fit for the flight. Boreal is not responsible for injuries caused by illness or pre-existing conditions.

10. Globos Boreal is authorized by AESA (Spanish Air Agency) to conduct hot air balloon rides and will be responsible for the piloting, installation, and transportation of all necessary equipment for the flight.

11. Passengers are always contacted the day before to confirm/cancel the flight. If the flight cannot be made due to weather conditions, it will be rescheduled at a later date by mutual agreement. No compensation will be provided for this reason.

12. Balloon rides are weather-dependent; therefore, the flight may be canceled due to precipitation, fog, wind, thermal currents, or any other adverse weather condition. The decision to carry out the flight will be solely and exclusively the pilot’s, and under no circumstances should passengers be coerced into performing the flight. Weather forecasting is not an exact science, so if the pilot deems conditions unsuitable for flying at the takeoff site, a new date will be agreed upon, and no compensation will be provided.

13. Balloons are not controlled aircraft; they move at the mercy of the wind, so specific views cannot be guaranteed.

14. Passengers must strictly follow the pilot’s instructions during the flight, and especially upon landing.

15. The pilot reserves the right to refuse admission if they consider that a passenger could endanger the safety of the flight.

16. Boreal maintains the mandatory third-party and passenger insurance coverage required by European regulations for airlines, Articles 6 and 7 of Regulation (EC) No. 785/2004.

17. Booking the flight implies acceptance of these general conditions and the prohibition of carrying dangerous goods during the balloon ride.

List of dangerous goods: fireworks, flares, detonators, fuses, dynamite, ammunition, pyrotechnic material, aerosols, self-defense sprays, camping gas, fire extinguishers, cryogenic liquids, compressed or refrigerant gas cylinders, fuel, adhesives, solvents, paint, varnish, torches, lighters or lighter refills, substances that emit flammable gases in contact with water, oxidizers, organic peroxides, substances that can combust spontaneously, such as matches.
